What do you think of this idea for a horror novel ?

Question by K C: What do you think of this idea for a horror novel ?
a mans descent into insanity. The Main character will be traumatized by something and his mind will start slipping in little ways at first until finally ending up in the most extreme and grand fashion. A first person look at severe insanity so that the main chareacter seems to be the sane one in a jigsaw world of horrors and plain impossibilities in his rational mind until the weight of the situation as he tries to handle crushes him leaving him institutionalized as he tries to restore order and process everything causing him to eventually bring down his own life along the way as it makes as little sense to him as the rest of the fantastic world he has lost himself in as he grows unable to tell the difference between reality and fantasy. It will end with him coming to terms with his new world and walking with society as if completely normal to the
average person.

I believe I’ll have a very dark ending in which he kills the real person who is trying to help him believing her to be one of the thingfs out of place in his world when he finally snaps before coming to aknowlege the new order.

Following is a list of things that will be in the novel somehow that will sort of blend in and out of reality.

Dancing Shadow People

Night Dancing Statues

Doors to places that Shouldn’t Exist

Giant Black Dog running in the distance on an otherwise completely dead night.

Extremely elongated shadow people walking across a street light completely blocking out light for
an instant.

Humanoid monsters that walk on their arms and legs upside down with their heads backwards.

Charred black stains in the form of people on walls.

A single tree with leaves like burning red embers thats trunk jerks violently in all directions
creating the illusions of it being ablaze.

Ordinary things that for some reason lack shadows.

long foggy pathways that stretch on for what seems like forever.

A forest of vaguely humanesque forms in contorted pained poses frozen like trees.

Nearly Invisible Razor Wire Lined between trees in a forest like a maze.

giant Centipedes (less Cliched than Spiders but equailly if not more disturbing.

A Spirit world full of odd beings that are completely foreign to our world and defy all our
knowledge.

Large Black Birds that Stare

Mauled white Birds

A single man in a black or white suit wearing An innocent looking mask that seems to be able to
appear and dissapear at will.

Things moving at speeds unnatural for them and out of place in their environment.

Wandering Mansions with awkward decor and ever shifting rooms and coridors.

Completely and undoubtably insane people with a love of violence.

Serpent-like water spirits

A Mutilated person bound in a straight jacket eith all facial opening sewn shut but still alive

talking skulls

A Beautiful long Black Haired woman on an odd throne with an aura of cruelty (haven’t quite worked
it out yet)

Gold and white clock-like machines that control fates.

Original Gods with very strange appearances and customs.

A child spawned from a plant with the ability to draw life from those around it.

A Curse that turns the beautiful ugly in the eyes of the cursed

A guiding spirit

A Schizophrenic child

A mirror room with strange proportions.

Question by FOG_USA: Atheists keep asking why anyone would believe in God? Fellow Christians what to you think of this answer?
In the past six months I keep seeing questions from atheists asking how can anyone believe in God?!

Well here is something I found in a book Titled God Bless America, published by Publications International, Ltd.

On the last page of this book it states the Contributing Writer is Marie D. Jones. I don’t know for sure if she is the Author of the following or if she just added it to the book, but either way I think the words written state quite well why Christians believe in God!

Found on page 95:

THE GIFT OF FAITH

No greater gift has God given us than the gift of faith; that deep and steadfast inner knowing that no matter what happens to us, we can call upon the help of a higher power to see us through.

Were it not for our faith, we would not dare to dream the dreams we reach and strive for. Were it not for our faith, we would give up too soon, back down too quickly, and walk away too abruptly from the challenges and obstacles that appear in our paths. Were it not for our faith, we would abandon those who need us when times get tough. Were it not for our faith, we would turn our backs on our own neighbors when disaster or tragedy strikes.

Faith is the invisible glue that binds us together, that holds us fast to our visions of what our lives can be. Without faith, we are weak, frightened creatures hiding our heads in the sand. Without faith, we would never have become the free and powerful people that we are. Without faith, we would never have dared to build machines that fly, send a man to the moon, and cure deadly diseases.

But with faith we can do anything, be anything. We can climb the highest mountian and touch the stars. We can fall and get up and fall and get up again, never surrendering, never giving in. With faith, we are warriors of the heart and spirit, bold and brave and true.

I would like to hear what other people of faith think of those words. Of course I can’t stop atheists from giving me their opinions of those words, but if any of you do post an answer, please keep it polite and friendly because I have done nothing to insult those of you who don’t belief, thanks.
Hi Mia,
Thank you for being polite in your answer. You are the only person on the other side of this issue to be nice!
PEDESTAL42 Your response is by far the MOST INSULTING AND CRUEL ANSWER I HAVE EVER SEEN! First of all the jerks who flew those four jets were not true people of faith! If you had ever bothered to read the responses by most of the world’s Muslim faithful to the attacks on Sept. 11TH, 2001 you would have noted that they were as shocked and sickened by what those terrorist monsters did as the rest of the world, non believers and people of all faiths alike! As a Christian I am taught by my FAITH to forgive sinners, so I do forgive you for your cruel answer! You owe the 3,000 + people who were killed or hurt that day back in 2001 a MAJOR APOLOGY!
EVERAD J.
First, you are not my MATE! You are the one who has to “get with the program!” I don’t understand where all this hate if coming from?! Why does my Faith in God make you hate me?! No where in my question did I state that I HATE ATHEISTS ON NON BELIEVERS!!!!! I just state that I feel that the person who wrote those thoughts gives a really good idea of why those of us who are people of faith our faith in God. As people of faith we are taught that we are to love everyone and to keep hate out of our hearts, so why can’t you give us the same consideration?!?!?

Question by Rookerman: Does this debunked the book of Genesis: New theory on how life formed on Earth?
Scientists may have identified the first source of energy that allowed the creation of life.

An obscure compound known as pyrophosphite could have been a source of energy that allowed the first life on Earth to form, scientists now say.

From the tiniest bacteria to the complex human body, all living beings require an energy-transporting molecule called ATP to survive. Often likened to a “rechargeable battery,” ATP stores chemical energy in a form that can be used by organic matter.

“You need enzymes to make ATP, and you need ATP to make enzymes,” said researcher Terence Kee of the University of Leeds in England. “The question is: Where did energy come from before either of these two things existed? We think that the answer may lie in simple molecules, such as pyrophosphate, which is chemically very similar to ATP, but has the potential to transfer energy without enzymes.”

Obscure but important

Prior theories for how life emerged from mere chemistry have considered that a similar but separate compound known as pyrophosphate was the predecessor to the more complex yet more efficient ATP.

Phosphate has 4 oxygen atoms bound to a central phosphorus atom, and is present in all living cells. When two phosphates combine and lose a water molecule, they form pyrophosphate.

Pyrophosphite, on the other hand, is rarely encountered, chemist Robert Shapiro at New York University told Livescience. “Even in my Google search for it, I got the query: ‘Don’t you mean pyrophosphate?’”

The presence of “one or two thorny little problems” with its rival molecule [pyrophosphate] had left some unanswered questions, Kee said in a telephone interview.

The two main problems were that pyrophosphate didn’t seem to be available in significant amounts in the geological mineral record, and it doesn’t react well without catalysts (which weren’t around then), according to Kee.

On the other hand, Kee’s team has found that pyrophosphite would be “relatively straightforward to prepare from minerals that are known to exist in iron meteorites.” The routes to the production of this molecule are simpler than those proposed for pyrophosphate, Kee said.

Though similarly produced through dehydration, and similar in composition except that it has some oxygen atoms replaced by hydrogen, pyrophosphite is rare. Only three pyrophosphite minerals exist, compared with “many phosphate minerals,” Kee said.

The chemical’s obscurity on Earth is not a sign of its irrelevance. It’s highly unstable in today’s oxygen-rich environment (meaning it breaks down into other molecules rapidly) but is a superior catalyst (jump-starter) for certain chemical reactions, Kee said, citing as-yet-unpublished evidence.

Lateral thinking

Kee called the altered theory “more a lateral thought process” than a “new concept.”

“It is as little strange that pyrophosphite and its ability to act as a phosphorus-transfer agent have been known for some time but it has not been proposed previously as being of any pre-biotic significance,” he said. “I suspect because noone had considered the need for it or that it may have been accessible pre-biotically.”

Interestingly, machines that manufacture artificial DNA for experiments regularly use pyrophophite in their assembly process, Shapiro said.

The researchers detail their theory on pyrophosphate as life’s first energy source in a recent issue of the journal Chemical Communications.

No, not at all. The bible says that God created man, it did not say how.

I want to be a detective, crime scene; csi/laworder type.

i love adventure and traveling, i want to be the james bond-ish type for a career.
be a very top intelligence for the army, where i know tons of secrets and military things that i can never tell anyone.
in addition to that, how would i go about being able to see, visit, learn all the cover ups and stuff about Area-51.. yes the groom lake one; what kind of job would i have to get into to be previewed to above mentioned.
become a singer/actor..ultimately a highly acclaimed philanthropist
become a governor later on in life, around 40 i guuess

..it could be like mrs/mr. smith for all i care.
i REALLY REALLY want to have all of this done by 60, possible?

thanks
one very determined, already pretty-successful college bound, going to take the world by storm, literally, man..gatsby.

(i really appreciate whatever advice/info you could offer me)
comment in reply to “F U”..why would you say that? people are powerful beyond measure. you will see, im going to do this. remember my email topherlg87@yahoo.com, when i do this, youll see, if your still alive, people like you who don’t contribute to society are ultimately nothing and incompetent. ill show you, i am going to do this, and be great.
second comment, i just dont think i would have the time to do this, you see, like get me? because id be so busy, and honestly i dont think i would have to tiem to develop and raise a kid and keep a constant wholesome marriage. I would be more worried about leaving a piece of me when i go than being with someone who loved me.
thanks for all constructive/positive feedback.

fyi, i am currently a server and i work in a law firm, i know that sounds unbelievable, but let’s just say i am a lot more capable than you probs. think.
yes, i know this seems like “i want to be everything, and think im cool” and some pipe dream bullshit, but that’s not it for me, i don’t get that rush from thinking i’m so cool and above everyone else- i wish i could tell you my ulterior motive.. please don’t take that in a negative way.

no one stil has answered my question, or what is feasible-at a stretch, from the above.
or what could i do most of. i want each of those jobs specifically, not something similar or in proximity. i have a plan, this master plan that those things are going to require for me to execute this.
i will pass the physical fitness test, have been doing high octane training.
stats.
6′
137
32w
excel at the 2.5 mile run, in the excellent range for the body comp. test, and have mastered to as much as possible the practice ASVAB.
i have been trying with ditch effort to contact my AF recruiter but they havent returned any of my calls. Also is it weird that when i call the recruiter that i am told to write down another number and call that one, and when i do i pretty much always get vmail?
Cian O, i really appreciate the info. would it be ok if i emailed you for more quest.?
jeligula, sorry for any mispells.. you just told me the name of my lifelong dream.
i want to be a “spark plug” i know that may sound awful, absolutely awful, but idk i just want this so bad, and willing to do anything to achieve these.
but.. how did you know about the whole spark plug “theory”/”job” anyway?

Boy, you really have it all planned out don’t you? If you want to be a fighter pilot, you should join the air force and let them put you through school. You can get a degree in criminal justice (to be a cop), and then go on to law school. I saw recently that the CIA is actually recruiting people – go to their website & see what they say you need to do to get there.

As far as not caring about a “consistent/healthy marriage,” you may want to rethink that. Life really is a lot more fulfilling when you have someone to share it with, but that’s just my opinion.

I would reduce your spells and traps a little bit and add in a little more monsters. Since morphtronics are great in numbers, i suggest “double summon” and a “mage power” never hurt as well :)
I really like your deck
