Question by Gorbit: Why wont apache start?
I have just installed Fedora 9 on my machine and I am trying to run the version of apache that was installed on it.

The problem I am having is that if try to bind to ports 80 or 443 and then start it using “# service httpd start” it fails to start and says the following:

Starting httpd: (98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address [::]:80
(98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:80
no listening sockets available, shutting down
Unable to open logs
[FAILED]

Does anyone know why this may be happening?
Also, I forgot to mention in my initial post. I have checked to make sure that nothing is bound to port 80 using “netstat -anp | grep :80″ – which returned nothing.

It looks like you left out a hostname or IP address specification somewhere, since [::]:80 or 0.0.0.0:80 is not a valid host:port specification.

Question by feuhrerfam: I want to start an online business selling home made purses. What sewing machine under 0 should I buy.?
I want to use different fabrics and stitches for decoration and I want to be able to embroider with it and do a hem binding like for t shirts and stuff. Do I want a serger or a sewing machine? I heard that singers are crappy now that I should buy viking or beringer? I that true?

Serger for hem binding (be sure it has a safety stitch)

Embroidering machine for specialty patterns.

A 1 or 2 needle straight stitcher

An off the arm (Feld-lok) machine

The ONLY way you are going to pull that off is to buy used or surplus, and then you are only going to be buying someone else’s headaches. Juki (Union Special), Brother, Yamata and Con-Sew are the best made..all the others are TRASH, including Singer.

I have a Singer and… well, it jammed really easily and it’s really old, so maybe newer one’s work better.
