plasma donation, side effects?
Question by ?s @ Y! Answers: plasma donation, side effects?
ok, what is it called when you donate plasma and feel ill? im talking the actual medical name.
aslo, on another note…is donating plasma wrong? i mean, morally, not legally. i sometimes feel like a bad person after i do it, because i get paid. :/ the thing is, i used to donate whole blood every two months before i got to college, then i started plasma because i dont have a job. i know i would do it even if they didnt pay, because i LOVE to donate to help people. i was just wondering about yalls opinions on this…..
also, would drinking milk, as well as water, during the process be helpful? i heard the anticoagulant they give you to stop your blood from clotting in the machine binds with calcium in the blood, and causing low calcium levels. so, should i just drink milk a lot now?

It’s called being dehydrated. When you donate they should be administering some saline after-wards to replace the volume lost. Drinking milk or water during the process would not be help-full. Try to stay hydrated before and after donation, but drinking excessive amounts is not advisable. If you are routinely feeling ill after danation, you might want to talk to your regular doctor and have some labs drawn like a CBC and a BMP.
