Sergers are for binding seams. I do not think you can buy a reliable machine that embroiders for $300. The ones mentioned in other answers are quite pricey. Also repairing computerized machines in very expensive and depending on where you live it could be hard to find a repair person. Do some research and good luck.

Well I like the Singer that comes with the Gameboy to control the different stitches… but my mom has a Viking and has had it since she was in college, and it still works great! She’s 49 now!

I have a brother sewing machine.Model #LS-1217 that I got at wal-mart for $99.00. It has all those features and works great. Good Luck with your business

My mother’s friend and also my mother-in-law are professional seamstress/dressmakers and she owns a Husqvarna-Viking Sewing and a Bernina serger.
